Redberry Avenue
Life-changing support for adults with learning disabilities and mild physical disabilities.
Type of property
Redberry Avenue is made up of two terraced houses where people are welcomed and supported to live independently. Each property has three bedrooms, and the rooms are arranged over three floors. Each property has a kitchen and a bathroom with a toilet and sink on the ground floor. The first floor has a communal living room, a bathroom with a shower, and a bedroom. The top floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath. There is also an accessible garden with a patio and pebbled areas for people to use when the weather is good. People from both properties enjoy socialising in this shared space.
Valued in your community
Redberry Avenue is in the village of Heckmondwike, which has shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, a post office, and a library. We also have easy access to surrounding villages for larger amenities. For people who like to stay active, the surrounding villages have a range of leisure facilities for exercise classes, sports courts, gyms and swimming pools. Leeds is the nearest city and offers museums, Leeds Grand Theatre, The Emmerdale Studio Experience, Leeds Trinity Shopping Centre, a Vue Cinema, and a Go-karting track. People also like to visit Halifax and Huddersfield. Halifax offers a Vue Cinema, Halifax Playhouse and Victoria Theatre, The Eureka! Science Museum, Calderdale Industrial Museum, Woolshops Shopping Centre, and Electric Bowl for bowling. Huddersfield provides access to Kingsgate and Packhorse Shopping Centres, Lawrence Batley Theatre, high-street banks and an Odeon Cinema.
Living at this service
Redberry Avenue is ready to welcome a man or a woman aged between 25 and 80. The people we support live with conditions including learning disabilities, Lennox Gastaut syndrome, and Fragile X syndrome. One of the men here enjoys anything food related, baking, superhero films and comic books. The other men like going to the day centre and to the cinema. There are two women at Redberry Avenue. One of the women likes seeing her family and being with staff. The other woman enjoys going to the day centre, socialising and listening to music. People choose how they spend their time and enjoy walking, going out for lunch, gardening, shopping, cooking, swimming, bingo, and being in the community. Day trips to Blackpool are a favourite people regularly enjoy these trips.
“Redberry Avenue has a very friendly and homely atmosphere. There is always plenty of support from the long-standing staff. The two properties are connected and the people we support like mixing with each other. The property is part of a new-build residential area. It is very safe and has good access to local amenities. The people here consider themselves to be a little family.” Manager, Redberry Avenue
