Gravelly Road
Life-changing support for adults with learning difficulties and autism.
Type of property
At Gravelly Road people are supported to live independently. The six-bed semi-detached property has an open-plan kitchen within the living area and dining room, and an accessible garden with a patio for people to use when the weather is good. There are two shared bathrooms - a standard shower cubicle upstairs, and a small wet room downstairs.
Valued in your community
At Gravelly Road, we’re fortunate to be located close to Birmingham city centre, where you can visit the Thinktank Science Museum, the Bullring Shopping Centre, O2 Academy, Sealife Centre, and a number of theatres, art galleries and libraries. Walsall town centre is just a short distance, too. Here you’ll find Reedswood or Crown Wharf Retail Parks, Saddlers Shopping Centre, the New Art Gallery, and The Light Cinema. People at Gravelly House choose how they spend their time. Regular trips to Whitby and Blackpool are firm favourites, whilst we enjoy year-round use of local leisure facilities such as swimming at Erdington Leisure Centre. As a group, we also take regular trips to the local pubs, karaoke and bingo. There are few things more rewarding than feeling like an active and valued part of your local community.
Living at this service
Gravelly Road is an ideal home for a mature person aged over 40. The person should be able-bodied, as the available room is not wheelchair accessible. The house has a busy atmosphere, so a sociable and active person will fit in perfectly. There are currently three man and two woman residents at Gravelly Road, ranging from 39 to 80 years old. These people have disabilities including profound learning difficulties, limited mobility, asperger’s syndrome, autism and seizures. The two older people we support have lived together for 30 years and have a close relationship. All of the people we support at Gravelly Road enjoy spending time at home, socialising, visiting the local day centre, listening to music, watching television, cooking, being in the community and shopping.
“Gravelly Road is a beautiful Victorian building. All of the staff enjoy working here and comment that you couldn’t wish for a more pleasant group of people. The families of the people we care for say that it feels like a true home. This property really does have a lovely atmosphere.” Manager, Gravelly Road
