Burton
Life-changing support for adults with learning difficulties, autism and mental health conditions.
Type of property
Burton has two separate detached properties, each providing the perfect mix of independent living and collaborative, community support. Living in these shared buildings means individuals can benefit from a vibrant network of friends and staff, while having peace and quiet whenever they need it too. Each property has nine bedrooms, with kitchen, dining room, a laundry room and a living room. The bedrooms all have en-suite bathrooms with a cubicle shower, and there is one additional shared bathroom. Lifeways also provides Wi-Fi, televisions and radios. The properties at Burton have shared gardens with patios, for people to spend time together when the weather is good.
Valued in your community
At Burton, we’re fortunate to be located just a short walk from a range of vibrant cafes, pubs, a post office, Burton Library and a range of high-street banks. Leisure activities include Coopers Square Shopping Centre, a Cineworld Cinema, Burton indoor market and Mecca Bingo. We also benefit from year-round access to Meadowside Leisure Centre with its swimming pool, gym, or Clip n’ Climb for the more adventurous individuals. When the weather is good, people enjoy walking in nearby Stapenhill Gardens or Newton Park. Burton is located close to Derby, where you will find Derby intu Shopping Centre, Derby Theatre, bowling and a number of museums.
Living at this service
Burton would be ideal for an able-bodied, sociable person aged between 30 and 50 with learning disabilities. All of the people we support like to spend time in the community. One works one day a week in the local area. At Burton, people choose how they spend their time - as a group, we often go out for lunch in the local area, as well as taking regular day trips to the coast, Blackpool, Skegness, and the zoo.
“Burton is a welcoming home in a friendly community. People are supported in gaining independence and living an enjoyable, everyday life.” Manager, Burton
